I’m Jacques.

At the start of 2021 I was looking to try something different in my life.

I work in the agriculture industry as an agricultural consultant.

But I wanted to learn something new. Something on the side where I could improve myself and become a better version of me.

And my interest in cooking came up.

I do know the basics, but that’s it!

I realized that I would love to know more and would like to get to a point where I would be comfortable to get friends and family over and do the cooking myself.

I remember watching shows from Jamie Oliver where he was the host and he would duck into the kitchen, whip up these amazing dishes and make it look EASY.

I wanted to do that.

And so at the beginning of this year (2021) I decided to start that journey.

But I had to learn about the kitchen first.

And this is where this blog comes in.

I decided to publish articles as I go, almost like a type of diary of what I’ve learned.

I realized that there are people around the world with whom I share a passion and who would like to learn as well.

So come with me on this journey as I explore and gain knowledge.

UPDATE 24 January 2022

It’s been almost a year since I started this blog, and I have learned heaps!

But I realized there was a need to understand the origins of food better.

So going forward, along with the current trend in articles, I will start to include articles about food origins.

Given my agriculture background, I am perfectly qualified to explain concepts of farming to help you better understand where food comes from and how it is grown.

I look forward to seeing you around!
